2018–2021 | EMBRACING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS THROUGH CREATIVE ARTS

Project duration: November 2018 – December 2021

Project leader: Esplora Interactive Science Centre, Malta

Partners:

A brief description of the project:

The project is linked to three of the 17 EU Sustainable Development Goals:

  1. quality education
  2. gender equality
  3. life under water

The project aims to raise awareness of these goals through art and education. Three artistic disciplines and therefore three partnerships are involved in the project:

  1. dance/choreography: OFF Foundation – Kreattivita
  2. storytelling: Seven Stories – Lignin Stories
  3. computer game: Picapipe – University of Malta/IT Department

The pedagogical tools developed will be tested by two Science Centres:

  1. Esplora Interactive Science Centre,
  2. Copernicus Science Centre.

The role of the OFF Foundation / Hodworks:

Contribution to the development of the “Dance Open Education Research Pack” (DOERP). This methodological pack is designed for educators who want to work with teenagers on movement and choreographic exercises. On behalf of the OFF Foundation, Tamara Zsófia Vadas and Luca Borsos participated in the development of DOERP, in close collaboration with the dance artist Rachel Calleja, who was involved by the Maltese partner. The methodological package includes detailed descriptions of the exercises, pedagogical instructions, video and music materials, and professional readings.

The lesson plans can be useful for teachers to incorporate themes of self-identity, cooperation, otherness and acceptance, and gender equality in drama and movement classes. The sessions have been developed for children aged 6-12. The resource material is available and can be used free of charge.
